My writing has once again made it onto the pages of Ceramics Monthly! My blog post about hang tags was adapted for the Tips and Tools page of the October 2012 issue.

Hi Mea,
I love the hang tag idea. I am wondering if you are willin to share the language of a sample tag as a model? thanks.

Thanks, Mea. These are great. I also loved your "Hourly Earnings Project" -- working on that now myself. You are a generous inspiration. Thank you!

Wendy, here are some of my favorites:

Enormous Coffee Mug. For serious coffee freaks, you know who you are.

Bowl with Chopsticks. Large enough for a meal, fits in your hand.

Cup + Saucer. Saucer has two jobs, it's also a lid.

Birdhouse. Can live outdoors year-round. Stainless steel hanging loop.

Mea, thanks. These are great examples. Didn't realize you were also the one who did the Hourly Earnings Project. Loved it, thank you for sharing all of these.

Great tip! I've tried hang tags in the past but I dont think the design was quite right, I'll have to give it another shot

The tagging system is really an eye-opener for marketing. Thanks. Also your good advice on Potters Council Business Forum spot on. I just read Sherman's Endpiece in Nov. CM, and realised you are one and same! Clever you. Again thanks.

Hi...checking out your blog and thank you for the Tagging idea.
To start I have just added some little stick-on labels to the bottoms of my pots noting them as lead-free, dishwasher and oven safe.
It is refreshing to note all your activities and I remember the energy I had in my youth. I think your work is quite beautiful. Now, at 79 years, I am content to continue to create at a slower but more intentional pace than before. (I was in my 50's when I began to pot,) I now work in a co-operative gallery in Gardner, MA. We are 4 potters and you may look us up on facebook as: Studio 4 Potters and Gallery.

I love the hand tags! I'll be using the idea to elevate my own marketing at pottery shows. Problem- the high tack glue dots I purchased aren't sticking to the paper. What product do you use for adhesive? Thanks!!

I've used several different brands of glue dots, and these are the ones I'm using now:

Overall they get the job done, but every so often my tags still fall off. I use both matte and glossy glazes, and find they stick much better on glossy glazes.

Hope this helps!
